Why deliver something that is paid off?

What do we expect from our veterans to deliver? Not something that is done by another veteran else where, but something that is fresh and unique. In entertainment arena, it is only ideas that are fresh get the appreciation. But, all time heroes of Telugu and Tamil films seem to have forgotten that fact. Mega star of telugu industry (Chiranjeevi) and most versatile hero of Tamil industry (Kamal Hasan) need no introduction as their achievements speak. Undoubtedly, they have contributed for the development of movie industry in this part of the country.
The recent projects that these achievers took up surprised me to a great deal. Who doubts their class, perfection, and versatility? They came up with something like this is a real surprise for someone like me who admired them for years. I am talking about the latest works Sankar Dada and Vasool Raja. It is acceptable to have a second grade hero doing this but not actors of this class. If our heroes liked the subject so much that they wanted it to be screened for us, they should have asked the supporting heroes in these projects to take up the lead roles. Probably, the big stars should have played the role of a producer/financier and restricted themselves to the role of promoters.
Comedy is appreciated and well received only if it is fresh. A joke second time has hardly any impact. I happened to watch Vasool Raja and its derivative, Munnabhai. To my utter surprise, it is just the carbon copy. Hope, this is not the case with Sankar Dada. Hope, our achievers work on fresh ideas and deliver what they are capable of instead of wasting time on something that is already been paid off.
