TAS.. What is that?

The Tata Administrative Service (TAS) was conceived by J R D Tata forty-four years ago. His dream was to select and groom some of the best young Indians, provide them opportunities for professional growth, and to use that pool of talent as a group resource -- a resource that could be tapped by Tata companies, present and future.

Most companies today allow a degree of job rotation for career growth. TAS is perhaps the only cadre in Indian business that consciously recruits for lifelong mobility, across companies, industries and functions, in order to impart that macro view of business, which is critical in developing young persons for general management. As a group resource, the TAS officer has as his career canvas India's largest business house with the widest range of business interests on which to plan and build a career of professional and personal growth.

To grow and renew this cadre continuously, TAS recruits high-achieving young postgraduates from among leading academic institutions within India and abroad each year. While prior work experience is not essential, some relevant experience is welcome. Most importantly, TAS searches for young people with a proven record of leadership, team spirit, breadth of interests and hobbies, and strong values.
