An idea is valued only when it is tried

There was tremendous satisfaction during those days when I used to leave office late everyday. Working late does not give me satisfaction all the time. I have been leaving office late these days but I no more carry the satisfaction that I used to. What I was doing then and what I am doing now is more or less similar.
Something that I learnt most during my days in Secretariat was participation in meetings. Spending a lot of time preparing the agenda, attending the meeting with lot of hopes and working on preparing the minutes all that is great if we see some value addition. But, it does not happen all the time. Some meetings go waste with no results as such followed by wonderful discussions. This irritates me the most. It is not the time of one individual which is spent away jut like that.
I remember some of the potential problems discussed in a recent meeting where every individual contributed for overcoming all of them before they are reported. But, none followed it up and the item remained silent in the minutes document. When problem was reported, everyone collectively said that they raised the concern in the last meeting. But, what did we as a team achieve by just raising the ideas? An idea is not valued if it is not tried. All of us, who contributed in the meeting, should have gone one step ahead and made sure that it is implemented. That would have been an achievement for the team to feel great about.
