Appraiser, score card, feedback...

What it takes to post something here? Title and time are key. I sometimes spend lot of time on the title. That isn't subject of discussion, now.
It is actually appraisal time at work. I could clearly sense the difference. It did not make much of a difference to me. This part of the year, people criticise too much about the appraisal system. People look frustrated, come to office with hardly any energy and pick up energy levels with time. Some think that the whole system needs to be revamped. But, to be honest, any appraisal system is going to be criticised.
I remember participating in an organization-wide initiative, in which people talked in depth about the changes that are to be made to the appraisal system. I see lot of quantification happening for good or bad. Is quantification the solution. I do not think so. I think it is all depends on the appraiser's feedback. If appraiser can have a discussion and convince the individuals by justfying the numbers/ratings, people may not think or talk too much about it.
I hate one more thing during this part of the year. I do not like someone to come and ask me what my appraisal is. I am not curious either to know what others are scoring. Few things are very obvious in the whole appraisal system but none of us accept them for some reason. Confidentiality is not accepted. Theory of relativity is very much there but none of the appraisers accept that. I will stop here as it is already late.
