Rescue, Relief and Rehabilitaton!

TSUNAMI deaths rised to 55000 and continue to go up as new coming in from all the affected corners. How much time and effort are needed to rebuild everything that is destroyed? More importantly, rebuilding lives of those who lost everything needs the emotional support from everyone of us than the kind support. Waves decided at a time when few people recollecting the Christmas carols and few planning for New Year celebrations. Most of the affected areas are tourist sites and this time of the year is the best time to fill their wallets. But, nature does not understand even a bit of what humans think, feel and realise. Unfortunately, we are not equipped with what is needed to influence the nature's actions.

I know how close Pillaichavady and Kalapet are to shore in Pondicherry. During my graduation days, these two villages were quite familiar amongst the college-mates. There were good number of people from Karaikal too in my college. These three are worst hit in the U.T. of Pondicherry. There were few of my classmates from Nagapattinam, one other place hitting headlines, contributing to the rise in the deathtoll. I have to find out from someone about Tuffail Ahmed.

It was too much a shock for anyone to run through the images in the dailies, web and of course e-mails. What could it have been for those who faced this? But, life has to go on for those who survived but they all need a bit of support from every one of us. We have an opportunity to respond to their sufferings, share their pain and agony, act on their behalf. Let us all hope, wish and pray that the shocked victims are well supported to pick up what they are left with and lead life as they did before this worst tragedy. The moment it is felt that this cannot get any worse, flash news suggest more to it. Rescue, relief and rahabilitation measures are the key elements of support. I am sure those who left us after this tragedyrest in peace only if we support those victims who are left with nothing to lead normal life.
