Boss is not just to boss around
I was just debating on what our managers lack? I just could conclude few things after all the debates that took place. Everyone is quite apprehensive about their future. A boss is expected to look after the careers of the team as well after all his team is striving hard for him and the organisation. Organization of course gives them a few benefits. But, organization is too big to think of an individual. Organization can really do very little if the size is so big. So, it is the task of the manager to think of individual team members. Knowing their career plans, ambitions, past records, skills is majorly the task of the individual and his boss. Having a self relied feedback system for every team member to perform better is also a great idea. Very few do the home work on feedback to team members. It is not just the apprisal time to think of the individual contributions or their failures. Not many managers like to learn from their team. Boss is not just to delegate but to take up the responsibility when needed, and more importantly deliver. One could easily assess as a resource manager, what he needs to do to win the hearts of the team.
