I visited two temples in two days time. Having witnessed the Pushpanjali organised by Bengalis as part of Dushera, we decided to drive down on the high way to Chilukur. Chilukur is one of those temples where you find Lord Shiva and Balaji at the same premises. It is told that Lord Shiva came down to Chilukur to offer prayers to Lord Balaji. That is the history about the temple but there is an interesting belief on this Balaji. Lord Balaji here is popularly called 'Visa Balaji'. It is believed in and around Hyderabad that 11 Parikramas here will get their wish fulfilled. I could not stop myself from laughing when someone told me that youth used to fill their Visa forms in the temple. Once the wish is fulfilled, they come back to the temple to do 108 Parikramas. I witnessed a good number of people doing 108 Parikramas. I just thought for a while how powerful the GOD is. Either the wish has to be very weak or the GOD has to be very strong. All of them, doing 108 Parikramas, could not have wished something silly/weak. But, I did 11 Parikramas spending my time thinking lot of other things and completely forgot to make a wish for myself. No regrets! I am particularly impressed with the priest out there. He has a great sense of humor and speaks very modern. He explained to people in Hindi, Telugu and English not to offer money to GOD. One needs to pay a visit to catch the humor of him.
I visited a Buddhist temple here at Secunderabad. It is still under construction but the place is very peaceful. I am impressed with the cleanliness of the temple and the location chosen for the temple. Watched the movie Collateral to complete the weekend. Overall, long weekend came to an end.
